SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Dissemination of the data to maximize the impact for public good is the cornerstone of the ARMADA mission. We expect that the strains and associated metadata accumulated by ARMADA will become well curated and formatted for broad dissemination to users in a timely fashion. The big data biobank could be mined by academic scientists to provide deeper insights into the mechanisms and population dynamics of antimicrobial resistance, associations between bacterial genotypes and phenotypes, etc. Importantly, we also envision that the ARMADA repository will be broadly used by industrial partners and applied scientists for designing novel diagnostic and surveillance tests, including those based on molecular fingerprinting, or developing new antibiotics and alternative antimicrobial agents, like bacteriophages, natural compounds, etc.
